His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire joined Royal Air Force Air Cadet adult volunteers earlier this month to mark exceptional service in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
The Beds and Cambs Wing of the Air Training Corps held its annual awards ceremony for cadet force adult volunteers at the Officers’ Mess of RAF Wyton. The air base is between Huntingdon and St Ives in Cambridgeshire.
The Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Julie Spence OBE CStJ QPM, ATC civilian instructors with long service certificates and uniformed volunteers with Cadet Forces Medals and clasps.
Two exceptional former cadets from the Wing also attended the event to receive awards. One was presented with a Commandant’s Commendation and the other, Georgia Pescod, was awarded the King’s Coronation Medal for taking an official role during the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Our own Chief Executive, Colonel Leona Barr-Jones DL VR, was at the ceremony, congratulating the volunteers alongside Wing Executive Officer Chris Cox and his fellow permanent ATC staff.
Chris said: “For me, the highlight of the evening was seeing ‘my’ administration officer, Lynn, receive a Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service…recognising over 20 years of exemplary service to the Wing headquarters.
“Congratulations to all the award recipients and thank you for your unwavering commitment to the cadet forces. It was truly a night to remember!”
