How we support Cadets in East Anglia
One of our key roles is to champion, support and enable the thousands of Cadets within our region, ensuring they have safe places and equipment for their training.
As well as raising awareness and engagement, we make sure that young people joining the Cadets have access to the very best training, facilities and staff.
Working closely with the Ministry of Defence, we deliver national policy at a local level and ensure our regional teams meet the high standards expected of the Cadet Forces.
Our support comes in a variety of forms:
Estates: We provide key estates management services for sites used by all the Cadet Forces
New facilities: We are responsible for overseeing transformative new estates projects, such as the new joint cadet centre in Southend
Admin and logistics: From organising uniforms to ensuring the right equipment is in the right place at the right time, our Professional Support Staff are vital to the Army Cadet Force’s success
Volunteer recruitment: Our Cadet Forces would not be able to run without the support of our Adult Volunteers. Across the region, there are approximately 1,600 volunteers, all of whom willingly commit their spare time to make the Cadet experience possible. We provide individual units with hands-on support to help them recruit the very best.
School engagement: We oversee the Government’s Schools Cadet Engagement Programme in East Anglia. Our Schools Cadet Engagement Officer provides Combined Cadet Forces with the advice, practical support, guidance and encouragement necessary to grow their Cadet units.
The positive impact of cadet forces on young people
A four-year study commissioned by the MOD and undertaken by Northampton University found that joining a cadet force broadened young people’s horizons and unlocked their potential. Read the report in full on the Northampton University website.
A study has also been published, focusing on the positive impact of the Combined Cadet Force on students. Read the full report on the Northampton University website.
