At a recent evening event, 254 (East of England) Multi-Role Medical Regiment played host to employers wanting to know more about their employees’ duties as medical Reservists.
Part of the Royal Army Medical Service, 254 Medical Regiment provides support for British Army operations through Reservist combat medical technicians, doctors, nurses, paramedics, drivers, chefs and military clerks. These Reservists are drawn from all walks of life and can receive training from the Army to expand their skills.
Squadrons of 254 Medical are based at Army Reserve Centres in Cambridge, Colchester, Norwich and Hitchin. It was the latter reserve centre, home of newly established 162 Hospital Squadron, that welcomed employers on 16 October to hear about the importance of supporting their Reservist employees.
Members of the RFCA’s Employer Engagement team explained the opportunities that employing Reservists brought to businesses and other organisations, and how the RFCA could in turn support them through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
RFCA Chief Executive Col. Leona Barr-Jones said: “It was an excellent evening with a room full of East Anglian employers at 162 Squadron in Hitchin, talking about the Employer Recognition Scheme and why it’s important.”
