The results from the Tri-Service Reserves Continuous Attitude Survey 2024 are in, and they show that reservists feel more appreciated by their civilian employers.
The annual survey measures satisfaction levels with various aspects of reserve life, including how supported and valued reservists feel in their ‘day job’. The survey asked participants if they agreed with the following statements, showing increases across the board:
- My main civilian employer supports my reserve service (76% agreed – up by 6% since 2015)
- My main civilian employer values my reserve service (59% agreed, up 9% since 2015)
- Being a reservist is good for my civilian career (53% agreed, up 6% since 2015)
Our Chief Executive, Colonel Leona Barr-Jones said of the findings: “I am delighted to see all the hard work that our Employer Engagement team and our supportive Employers are doing is paying off for our Reservists in real terms. We are seeing big jumps in civilian employers supporting and valuing the huge benefits of Reserve Service and between 70%-81% of Reservists use their skills gained through their Military Service in their civilian employment. That’s a huge win/win/win all round with the Reservist, Employer and Defence gaining benefits.”
