King Charles III Coronation Medals for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers

The Lord-Lieutenant of Essex presents King Charles III Coronation Medals to Essex Army Cadet Force adult volunteers for five years of service

The Lord-Lieutenant of Essex presented Army Cadet Force (ACF) adult volunteers from her county with King Charles III Coronation Medals recently. These medals, produced in commemoration of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023, celebrate active service for more than five years.

Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst, who is the first woman to serve as Lord-Lieutenant in Essex, awarded the medals on HM the King’s behalf. Family members and friends of the CFAVs were in attendance to see their nearest and dearest receive the honour.

The RFCA’s chief executive, Colonel Leona Barr-Jones DL VR, was also on hand to watch the ACF adult volunteers march inside from cold and frosty weather to stand on parade. The commissioned ranks were the first to receive their medals from the Lord-Lieutenant before marching out so the non-commissioned officers could take their place in ranks.

The Lord-Lieutenant and Colonel Barr-Jones spoke to the volunteers following the presentations about their service and support for the young people of Essex ACF. Just as the cadets learn new skills, make friends and achieve goals, so do the adults who choose to get involved.

You can find out more about what it is to be an adult volunteer in one the the largest youth organisations in the country on the Army Cadets website. You can also view more images from the presentation there.
