Cadet adult volunteer has earned promotion to lieutenant

Adult volunteer Jack Gleed, Suffolk Army Cadets‘ Area Training Officer and C Coy Area Shooting Officer, has earned a promotion to lieutenant.

Lt Gleed passed his Initial Officer Training (IOT) programme this year, which qualified him for a promotion to his new rank.

The IOT is a course designed to prepare newly commissioned officers for the next chapter in their progression through the Army Cadet Force (ACF). It consists of a two-part course that builds a strong foundation in leadership and sets out how to apply the skills the candidate has learned to their ACF role.

Such skills are certainly “portable”, and many cadet force adult volunteers (CFAVs) have said their training has proved valuable in their civilian lives, too.

Lt Gleed passed his initial commission to GOC regional command—at the rank of 2nd lieutenant—with the Army Cadet Commissions Board on 16 April 2023. He received the further promotion from Maj S Revell, Area Commander of C Coy, on Sunday 1 June.
