A recent training weekend for B Coy of Suffolk Army Cadets saw young people complete their Army Cadet Syllabus 1 and 2 Star training. Some cadets were also hard at work on the final stages of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze challenges

Using maps, compasses and skills they learned in the Army Cadet Force (ACF), cadets navigated their way through parts of Lowestoft and the surrounding countryside. On arrival at their destination, a field surrounded by a secure fence, they set up camp and spent the night under canvas.

This was a great way for young people to practise life skills such as resilience, problem-solving, teamwork, communication and resolve. The activity weekend also gave the cadets an opportunity to consolidate friendships while earning valuable qualifications recognised by universities and employers.
A number of the tents used during the residential training were funded by Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT UK). The charity provided the grant from its DofE Resilience Fund and the cadets offered very positive feedback about the accommodation. A big thank you goes to ACCT UK for supporting their training.

The cost of whole event was £15 for each cadet, which included two days of fresh air and fun. Congratulations to all the cadets who took part and earned their qualification, and a big thank you to the Cadet Force Adult Volunteers for their hard work in making the weekend a success.
