Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets form Guard of Honour for HM The King in Luton

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Susan Lousada was delighted to welcome His Majesty The King to Luton on Tuesday 6th December 2022. His Majesty visited the Town Hall in Luton where he met with representatives from a wide range of voluntary and community organisations across Luton. On his arrival, the King was welcomed by the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets who formed a Guard of Honour on the Town Hall steps.

His Majesty then moved on to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara where he met with many members of the Sikh congregation, Soup Kitchen  volunteers, school children, local vaccination centre volunteers and other distinguished guests.

On the final part of his visit, His Majesty took a ride on the DART, the new fully-electric driverless system which replaces the old bus transfer service from Luton Airport parkway station to the Luton Airport terminal building. At the DART, His Majesty met with many local people including apprentices, charity representatives and airport staff. On his departure from Luton, the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets formed another Guard of Honour to bid The King farewell.

All the Cadets were so thrilled that The King took the time to speak to them and, after the visit, they expressed their thanks to the Lord-Lieutenant for the experience of a lifetime. They felt honoured to play a part in The King’s visit.

The Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets in Bedfordshire this year are:

  • Cadet Chief Petty Officer Zak Mounter, Bedford Modern School
