A member of the RFCA team and his wife had a regal welcome at Buckingham Palace earlier this month when they joined hundreds of other guests for a Royal Garden Party hosted by His Majesty HM King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
Chris Jewell is a cadet administrative assistant employed by East Anglia RFCA to supports Cadet Norfolk Engineers (CNE) Sqn, Norfolk Army Cadet Force (ACF). He was nominated to attend by our Cadet Executive Officer for Norfolk, Major (Retd) R Gibbs.
Maj Gibbs said: “I have the benefit each year through HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk to nominate staff and cadet force adult volunteers who have given ‘above and beyond’ service to East Anglia RFCA or Norfolk ACF…as thanks for their service.”
The garden party took place on Tuesday 12 May. Chris, his wife Rose, and the other guests had the chance to dress in their finest while enjoying canapés and Champagne aplenty. The King himself wore morning dress with the customary tailed coat and top hat, while the Queen wore a calf-length white dress and matching hat with black detailing.
Each Royal Garden Party celebrates front-line workers like Chris from across the country, recognising their dedication and contributions to their local communities. Norfolk’s Lord-Lieutenant, the Lady Dannatt MBE—who is also East Anglia RFCA President— approved Maj Gibbs’s nomination and sent the invitation to Chris and Rose on behalf of HM the King.
