Suffolk Army Cadet Force (ACF) recently saw its commandant present her first Coin for Excellence award to a young person from their county.
The prestigious Commandant’s Coin is awarded in recognition of a cadet going above and beyond normal efforts to be “a force for good within the Army Cadets and the local community”.
Col Cathy Bradshaw became commandant of Suffolk ACF a year ago and has decided her first Coin for Excellence award should go to Cdt Cpl Hunt for giving junior cadets the confidence to attend residential training.
Cpl Hunt has gone out of his way in recent months to support younger cadets, spending his free time explaining the format of training weekends and offering reassurance about the activities on offer.
Following a recent camp, one of the cadet’s families family contacted the ACF to offer their thanks Cpl Hunt’s efforts over a period of months to make sure their two children attending the same detachment felt comfortable enough with the idea of overnight stays to take part.
Not only did Cdt Cpl Hunt’s effort, kindness and responsibility offer the siblings a better cadet experience, his actions also motivated them to better achievement and behaviour at school.
Col Cathy was very impressed with Cdt Cpl Hunt’s commitment and said: “I’m proud to have him in Suffolk ACF. Cdt Cpl Hunt is such a shining example of a cadet junior non-commissioned officer.”
The congratulations of East Anglia RFCA and everyone at Suffolk ACF go to him too.
