Adventurous activities with friends are an essential element of being an armed forces cadet. And young people from East Anglia have shown another aspect of the experience as the Suffolk cadets earn BTEC qualifications during their time in their county’s Army Cadet Force (ACF).
The BTEC is a vocational qualification equivalent to different academic exams, depending on the curriculum. And seven cadets from our region recently secured their BTEC Level 2 qualifications in teamwork and personal development in the community with the support of their ACF instructors.
Each teenager now has the equivalent of an extra GCSE that could help them pursue their ambitions in the future. Holding a Level 2 BTEC supports applications not just for jobs but college and university too.
So well done to all seven cadets, who are:
- Cdt Thurtle (Pakefield)
- Cdt M Cooper (Ipswich RLC)
- Cdt J Cooper (Ipswich RLC)
- Cdt T Hunt (Lowestoft)
- Cdt J Studholme (Mildenhall)
- Cdt M Keeble (Stowmarmaket)
- Cdt C Jackson (formerly Pakefield)
The teamwork and personal development in the community course offers successful students proof they have skills including effective communication and career planning. It also offers colleges, universities and employers nationally recognised proof of volunteering and character development.
To see our Suffolk cadets earn BTEC qualifications is a validation of how the Army Cadets invest in our young people’s future. East Anglia RFCA and Suffolk ACF are proud of all seven cadets reaching this milestone. Our hearty congratulations go to them all!
