We are delighted to share the news that East Anglia RFCA has been confirmed as a “Pride in Veterans Standard Organisation”.
This important accreditation shows the Association is committed to providing inclusive and welcoming support to LGBT+ veterans, serving personnel and their families. East Anglia is the first RFCA to receive approval for the award, which is reviewed annually.
The accreditation is supported by the Fighting With Pride military charity, which champions LGBT+ veterans, serving personnel and their families. It has a particular focus on assisting those affected by the bar on LGBT+ service in the UK Armed Forces between 1967 and 2000.
It is no coincidence that the charity was founded in 2020—exactly two decades after the complete lifting of the so-called “gay ban”—and it has been part of discussions to right that injustice.
As well as its work in that area, Fighting with Pride puts LGBT+ veterans in touch with organisations that can help them, and stands with people in need. It is one of the groups featured in the Government’s list of services and support for LGBT people who served in our Armed Forces.
