Employers from across East Anglia came together for an engagement breakfast at Robertson Barracks in Swanton Morley, Norfolk.
Businesses that support the Defence community were welcomed to a morning employer engagement event at the base, which has been home to the 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (nicknamed The Welsh Cavalry) since 2015.
Following a hearty breakfast guests were able to hear from a range of speakers, with a welcome from Major Bob Gibbs, Cadet Executive Officer of Norfolk Army Cadet Force (ACF).
Lieutenant Colonel David G A Landon, Commanding Officer, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, then shared insights into the operations of the regiment.
Guests then heard from Major Sam Carter, Battery Commander, Norfolk ACF, and Cadet Warrant Officer Zak Damji, RAF Air Cadet. They spoke about why the cadets movement is so rewarding, and the vital support given by adult volunteers.
The East Anglia RFCA’s Defence Relationship Manager, Sarah Thompson, also spoke about the important role that employers play in supporting the region’s Defence community. The event was also attended by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, Michael Gurney DL.
After hearing from the speakers employers were then able to view live demonstrations and even get hands-on with some of the equipment themselves.
Events like this are the heart of the work of the East Anglia RFCA. are at the heart of what we do, showing the growing commitment from employers across our region to supporting Defence.
