Suffolk Army Cadets enjoyed a five-day Easter camp during the recent school holiday, practising many areas from their learning syllabus while having fun and making new friends.
Young people in the county’s Army Cadet Force (ACF) travelled to its highly successful MONS Easter Camp, a training event packed with activity, challenge, and development.
As well as spending time with friends in the countryside, the camp offered cadets an opportunity to build skills, confidence, and teamwork under the guidance of cadet force adult volunteers (CFAVs). The wide range of activities was designed to support cadets’ progression through the Army Cadet syllabus with training including safe weapon-handling and marksmanship, plus fieldcraft sessions that introduced and refined essential military skills such as camouflage, concealment and movement in tactical environments.

Some cadets even spent a night out in the fields to further hone their skills.
In addition to these core subjects, cadets enjoyed adventurous pursuits such as archery and paintball, adding an extra layer of excitement to the camp while reinforcing teamwork and communication. Classroom-based and practical instruction covered first aid, navigation, communications and information systems (CIS), and drill and turnout. This made for a comprehensive and well-rounded training experience.
Cadets at varying stages of their development—from Basic through to 3-Star level—all had access to carefully tailored training, allowing each individual to progress at an appropriate pace while still being challenged to achieve their next milestone. For those at the advanced 3-Star level, the camp also included key assessments. Cadets were evaluated on their Junior Cadet Instructor Cadre (JCIC) and other competencies.

Events like these play a vital role in delivering the Army Cadet experience, combining structured training with memorable experiences that foster resilience, leadership, and camaraderie. All of this came at a cost of only £30 to parents, making it a fun and inexpensive way to entertain the children over the school holidays.
East Anglia RFCA joins Suffolk ACF in sending thanks to the cadet force adult volunteers who gave up their time to ensure the young people in their charge had the best possible experience.
