The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister to recognise employer support for the wider principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employers that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community.

Silver award holders demonstrate support for Defence by employing at least one individual from an Armed Forces Covenant category, Reservist, Veteran, Military spouse/partner or Cadet Force Adult Volunteer and actively communicating /projecting a positive image of Defence to their employees via established HR policies and procedures. They also support Reservists by giving them the flexibility needed to plan and fulfil their annual training and mobilisation commitments.

Kristina Carrington, Regional Employer Engagement Director said: “2020 has been a phenomenal year for us in terms of employer engagement and I would like to offer my thanks and congratulations to all thirty organisations. Amongst them are four companies that have had their Awards re-validated. A Silver Award is granted for a period of five years and when a company has theirs re-validated, it highlights their continued support to the Defence Community.”

Typically an Awards ceremony would take place in November but due to the Covid-19 restrictions, things will be done a little differently this year. East Anglia RFCA will run a social media campaign from 21st September until 2nd October in order to shine a spotlight on these wonderful companies and to encourage them to share their Defence related news and stories.
