East Anglia Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) was delighted to host Group Capt Leonie Boyd from RAF Marham for an engagement event at this year’s Royal Norfolk Show.
One of England’s premier agricultural shows, the Royal Norfolk Show has deep historical connections to the Royal Family, with members regularly attending to support rural communities and British farming. This year’s show continued that proud tradition while providing an excellent platform for military engagement within the local community.
The association’s involvement was based in the 2025 show’s dedicated Military Village area, where our Armed Forces showcase their capabilities and connect with the public.
Group Captain Boyd gave a presentation to a number of our engaged employers—most of whom hold or are on the path to Employer Recognition Scheme awards. She offered a valuable opportunity for local partners and stakeholders to learn more about RAF Marham, one of the region’s most significant military installations.
These photographs from the Military Village (select a thumbnail for the full image) captured the relaxed but informative atmosphere as visitors chatted with Armed Forces regulars, reservists and cadets. Topics that came up included opportunities to learn new skills and how cadet forces can enhance their communities.
During the informal presentation and question-and-answer session, employers gained a deeper understanding of military life and how these support civilian expertise and interests. Group Captain Boyd highlighted the mutual benefits that emerge when local communities and businesses partner with Defence.
The Royal Norfolk Show’s unique blend of agricultural heritage, Royal patronage and community spirit provided an ideal setting for this important event in the county’s—and the RFCA’s—calendar. Events like these are important tools in fostering understanding and cooperation that benefits everyone involved.
The photos above and the military engagement at the Royal Norfolk Show more generally highlight not only the professionalism of our Armed Forces but also the genuine connections between service personnel, cadets, and the communities in which they serve. East Anglia RFCA remains committed to strengthening these connections.
