
Lady Philippa Dannatt MBE
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Association President
Lady Philippa Dannatt was born into a longstanding Norfolk family and continues to be actively involved as a partner in her family farm. As the wife of General Lord Richard Dannatt, she played an active role throughout his 32-year military career.
Dedicated to public service, Lady Dannatt has held the position of High Sheriff, focusing her tenure on the promotion of mental health. She serves as a Lay Canon of Norwich Cathedral and is Vice President of Armed Forces charity SSAFA, in addition to having been Deputy Chair of the SSAFA Adoption Panel.
Her leadership extends to former presidencies of the Army Widows’ Association and the Norfolk Club, while she also acts as patron to numerous county organisations, particularly those supporting mental health and youth initiatives.
During her years as a military wife, Lady Dannatt trained as a professional counsellor, latterly volunteering for the Sue Lambert Trust in Norwich, which works with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
She lives in Keswick, near Norwich, with her husband. Together, they have four married children, 11 young grandsons and two granddaughters.
In August 2019, Lady Dannatt was appointed as Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk continuing her commitment to service within her county and beyond.
She became President of East Anglia RFCA in June 2025, succeeding her counterpart as Lord-Lieutenant in Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE CStJ Hon.LLD.
