New Colonel Cadets for East Anglia visits RFCA HQ team

Colonel Marc Godfrey visited the East Anglia RFCA HQ in Chelmsford to find out more about our work and meet our team.

Marc was appointed to the role of Colonel Cadets for East Anglia a few weeks ago and brings a lifetime of experience in the Cadet Forces with him. Joining the cadets as a teenager, he continued on as an adult instructor in the CCF. He said of his time as CCF Contingent Commander: “I sought to provide high quality training and ample opportunities for personal development to cadets and CFAV alike.” He is a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Assessor and has gained qualifications in mountaineering, sailing, powerboating and skiing. Marc is now retired from his career in teaching but remains a trustee of the CCFA.

A Colonel Cadets is appointed in every Brigade area (with two in 7 Inf Bde and HQ East).  The Colonel Cadets is the senior volunteer adviser to both HQ Regional Command and the respective Brigade HQ staff on matters of cadets policy and training. He supports 7 Brigade to meet its duty of care responsibilities for the direction and supervision of CCF and ACF activity across the region.

From our HQ in Chelmsford, the East Anglia RFCA team run regular introductions to key stakeholders about the RFCA and how we support the Cadet Forces like the Army Cadet Force, and the 7th Infantry Brigade & Headquarters East Reserve Forces.

Speaking with our Deputy Chief Executive Major (retired) Jane Wilkes, Marc said: “The team here are clearly very knowledgeable and pro-active about supporting cadets. This was a very useful visit.”
