External Audit of Future Reserves 2020

The External Scrutiny Team has published its first report on the progress towards Future Reserves 2020.

It contains much good judgment on the need to recognise the differences between reserves and regulars and therefore, amongst other things, to not use a ‘one size fits all’ recruitment system.

Annex A also defines the Council of RFCA’s role as external scrutineers of the health of the reserves.

The report is easy to read, and an encouraging recognition of where mistakes have been made. Take a look at Lieutenant General Robin Brims’ Executive Summary where he discusses the progress of the FR20 and central policy development.

‘During our visits to units we have been very impressed with the levels of energy being demonstrated locally and the evident commitment of the longer serving Reservists and Regulars on whom the day-to-day burden of enthusing recruits falls.’

The External Scrutiny Team is made up of Chairman, Lieutenant General (Retd) R V Brims CB CBE DSO DL, and members including Major General (Retd) S F N Lalor CB TD, Captain I M Robinson OBE RD RNR, Colonel T S Richmond (Retd) MBE TD DL FCA, C N Donnelly CMG TD BA and Secretary Air Vice-Marshal (Retd) P D Luker CB OBE AFC DL.
