Our Estates team completed an upgrade of the Cadet Centre in the village of Bury in Cambridgeshire, creating a more welcoming space for the local air cadets and their squadron leaders.
The Cadet Centre was refurbished and extended, adding much needed storage and office space. Works included the addition of a covered outdoor teaching area. Outside, there’ s still plenty of flat grassed space for open air activities within the perimeter. The existing building also received new windows and doors, a fresh coat of paint, new lighting. The kitchenette and the loos are now modern and pleasant too.
The local Ramsey Army Cadets are now able to call this Cadet Centre home too, providing even more opportunities for young people locally to access the cadet experience.
The East Anglia RFCA Estates team manages over 500 buildings across East Anglia and deliver a year-round programme of improvements that sits alongside capital projects and maintenance workstreams. Borras Construction were the lead contractor on this project for us.
This is another great example of the work the RFCA team carries out throughout the year; adding energy-saving measures and adding in key features to make the buildings easy to run locally by squadron leaders.
