An RAF Reservist and two of his staff supported Uniform to Work Day last week and wore military uniform in their civilian role.
Sir Michael Marshall is the Honorary Air Commodore of No 2623 RAuxAF Squadron RAF Regiment based at RAF Honington. Sir Michael was also accompanied for the national event by two of his staff who are reservists. Flying Officer Chris Priest who is Officer Commanding of B Flight on No 2623 RAuxAf Squadron and works in HR for Marshall Motor Group and Corporal Gareth Rundle from 6 Army Air Corps Reserves and in his civilian employment is an airport operative for Marshall’s Aerospace and Defence.
Sir Michael Marshall spoke about why he got involved in the cause:
“Reservists play a vital role in National Defence as well as gaining valuable leadership and character training in the Reserves.”
Uniform to Work Day (UTWD) took place on Wednesday 25 June and was an opportunity for Reservists to wear their military uniform to their civilian jobs, as well as Regulars and Reservists working in the MOD and other Government departments.
The purpose of Uniform to Work Day is to recognise the role the Reserve Forces play in both the community and the Armed Forces. The event forms part of the build up to Armed Forces Day, which this year took place on Saturday 28 June.
Uniform to Work Day takes place alongside Future Reserves 2020, which aims to restore confidence in the continued purpose of the Reserve Forces, and arrest a drop in numbers in the Armed Forces overall. UTWD is an essential tool to help raise awareness of the valuable contribution Reservists make to the UK’s Armed Forces.
