Estates

Our Estates department provides a complete maintenance and management service to the customers of 14 Reservist and 200 Cadet properties across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are responsible for these Reserve and Cadet Centres on behalf of the Minister of State. These properties are at the core of all Reservist and Cadet activity. It is therefore vital they are kept in good condition and meet the needs of their users.

Headed by David Routledge, the Estates team is based at the East Anglia RFCA headquarters in Chelmsford. David and his team work closely with approved contractors and consultants to provide a professional service to the estate and its users.

Our service includes all essential maintenance and repairs, lease negotiations, disposals and acquisitions, grounds maintenance as well as implementing a robust inspection regime at all of our locations ensuring that we meet our Health and Safety obligations. We have designed and project-managed multi-million pound builds and full refurbishments of both Reserve and Cadet buildings.

Contractors and site users are able to to use our dedicated portal for parcel of land safety documentation.

We place great priority on our role as custodians of important buildings, and we employ highly-qualified surveyors to oversee their upkeep and development.

Our buildings can also be used as community resource, like our Ipswich Army Reserve Centre which is the home of the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, or our Chelmsford Army Reserve Centre which provides a secure training space for Essex Police.
