VACANCY – FULL TIME CADET EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Start date August 2021
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cadet Executive Officer at Essex Army Cadet Force based in Chelmsford, Essex. This is a leadership position and provides vital support to the volunteer Commandant.
As a public sector organisation with Crown status, we are looking for an organised individual with excellent numeracy and literacy skills, who is computer literate and able to learn new systems quickly and work with the minimum of supervision. Good communication and inter-personal skills are required.
Range of tasks include:
-Management of Permanent Staff.
-Implementation of and compliance with legislation and regulations for all matters relating to security, Safety Health Environment & Fire
-Designated Safeguarding Officer to ensure duty of care towards children.
-Management of public and non-public funds
-Control and management of ACF property and MOD provided weapons, ammunition, vehicles, equipment and stores
-General administration of the ACF at County level
-The provision of staff support and professional advice to the Cadet Commandant
Applicants will come from an Armed Forces background and will be experienced in personnel and logistic matters and the management of public and non-public funds. They should also be accustomed to dealing with other military organisations, be capable of producing routine staff work and through their good interpersonal skills, able to diplomatically advise cadet force volunteers. These excellent leadership and communication skills will facilitate the management of the nine full time staff and their frequent dealings with cadets, their parents, other youth organisations and community leaders, including the Lord-Lieutenant in the county of Essex.
This post is for 47.5 hours per week including lunch breaks on an All-Hours Worked contract. This position attracts a current salary of £38,501 p.a. Additional benefits include a generous defined benefit pension scheme, annual leave of 25 days plus public holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years of service) and free on-site parking.

VACANCY FOR A COMMANDANT AND TWO DEPUTY COMMANDANTS – CAMBRIDGESHIRE ARMY CADET FORCE
Vacancies will occur in August for a Commandant and two Deputy Commandants in Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force, based at Waterbeach. The County ACF comprises 31 detachments, with over 800 Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers on strength.
The posts of Commandant and Deputy Commandant are voluntary appointments. However, the successful applicant will be eligible to receive remuneration in the form of Volunteer Allowance (VA) for full day’s attendance and certain other allowances for subsistence and travel when on ACF duty in accordance with ACF Regulations and within the limits advised by Brigade.
Candidates must hold or have held a Land Forces or a Cadet Forces commission.
It is a requirement under the Disclosure and Barring Service Code of Practice that this position requires an “Enhanced Disclosure” prior to appointment.
The Secretariat (7 Bde MS) reserves the right to contact an applicant’s current Commandant (or Commanding Officer in the case or Regular or Army Reserve applicants) to ask for a reference where this is deemed necessary.
