Fourteen Suffolk-based businesses from both the public and private sector are being awarded for supporting Defence personnel.
The businesses from Suffolk are receiving a Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for demonstrating their support to Reservist employees.
The awards will be presented by Major General Greg Smith CB QVRM TD at Flying Station Wattisham, Roman Road, Ipswich, Suffolk on Thursday 5th February 2015.
Reservists are men and women who give up their free time to train alongside our regular (full-time) military forces and may be called on to serve the country in times of need at home or abroad.
Kristina Carrington, Regional SaBRE (Supporting Britain’s Reservists and Employers) Campaign Director for East Anglia said: “Each of the employers being awarded has shown a commitment to support Reservist employees. They understand that the military training undertaken by Reservists provides them with qualities that employers value and respect including professionalism, adaptability, physical courage, management skills and problem solving ability.
I am delighted that fourteen Suffolk employers are being recognised by the Ministry of Defence. The MOD received over 500 nominations for Silver awards across the UK and 105 are being presented to employers based in East Anglia.”
Julian Brazier TD MP, Minister for Reserves said: “I am delighted with the positive response to the Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme, launched by the Prime Minister in July this year. Over 360 employers have already been recognised with the Silver Award via this scheme and we look forward to recognising many more employers in future.”
