Lieutenant Colonel Rob Futter took charge of 158 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) in July 2020.

Rob was a Cadet in the Stamford School CCF. He joined the Territorial Army at university, then took a Regular commission in the RLC in 2000. He served in 3 Commando Brigade and 16 Air Assault Brigade, completing three tours of Afghanistan and then being the second in command at 29 Regiment RLC.

Rob has held staff appointments at the Joint Force Headquarters, during which time he deployed to Libya, Egypt and Bahrain. More recently, he completed appointments in Defence Supply Chain & Ops Movements and Defence Equipment & Support.

He plans to support the CCF at his former School as part of the Regiment’s Youth Engagement Programme when the current COVID situation allows.  Rob is proud to be the Chairman of RLC Rugby.  He said, “I can’t wait for Army Rugby to return, once it does my aim is to get the Regiment playing again and hopefully get an Army Reservist to represent the Corps in the not too distant future.”

Rob has high expectations for the regiment, explaining  “I’m looking to develop the Regiment and our soldiers to become the best role models, people that are not afraid of failing, working hard, learning and inevitably winning, whether that be getting promoted, realising an incredible sporting achievement or just becoming a better version of themselves.”

He added: “The regiment is operationally focussed and our soldiers are ‘Agile & Ready’; whether that be Mobile Testing Teams for the COVID response or deploying soldiers to Cyprus on UN Peacekeeping missions. It’s all part of the diverse nature of the modern-day reservist role.”

“In my opinion the Regiment is one of the best Army Reserve Regiments; its professionalism and its commitment to its people make command a pleasure and is absolutely the pinnacle of my career so far.”

The reservists of 158 Regiment RLC are based out of Peterborough, Bedford, Ipswich and Colchester in the Eastern Region, with more locations in the East Midlands. For more information about the regiment and its people, visit their page on army.mod.uk.
