An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Estates Officer at East Anglia Reserve Forces and Cadets Association office, located close to Chelmsford city centre.
East Anglia RFCA is one of 13 RFCAs across the UK and widely recognised as the most valuable, knowledgeable and authoritative body in support of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force Reserve Forces and Cadet Organisations in East Anglia. The Association is an arms-length public body, apolitical and independent from the Ministry of Defence although funded by it to deliver its three mandated Defence outputs of managing the Reserve and Cadet Estates, Community and Employer Engagement, and support to Cadets.
The Estates team manage an impressive portfolio of around 200 Reserve Forces and Cadet sites across East Anglia and in addition to providing the management and upkeep of the estate, handle the acquisition and disposal of land and buildings, and adapt homes for injured service personnel.
As a public sector organisation with Crown status, we are looking for an organised individual with excellent numeracy and literacy skills, who is computer literate and able to learn new systems quickly and work with the minimum of supervision. Good communication and inter-personal skills are required.
Range of tasks include:
-Assist with compilation and submission of Short Term Plans for capital Works and Property Management.
-Responsible for the delivery of the works services and FM programmes.
-Obtain planning permission, Building Regulations and other approvals for all minor new building works.
-Evaluate and authorise contractor’s invoice accounts.
The successful candidate will either be professionally qualified as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building or hold other allied professional recognition in the provision of estate and construction (or is demonstrably working towards such a qualification), or have experience in PM for new build and major refurbishment and knowledge of or experience of government estate work.
This post is for 42 hours per week including lunch breaks. This position attracts a current salary of £31,136 p.a. Additional benefits include a generous defined benefit pension scheme, annual leave of 25 days plus public holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years of service) and free on-site parking.
